1       Introduction

OpenClick project aims to discover physical status, skills and abilities of people based on human – computer interaction tests.

OpenClick is research project fully based on Open Science principles.

OpenClick allows to registered persons, researcher or institution to use OpenClick project’s infrastructure (portal, tools, methodology, database, data sets) to conduct their own research as long as they respect project’s principles, rules, IPR (Intellectual Property Rights) and licensing policy.

2       Principles of the project

2.1     Open science

Project aims to fully implement open science principles according to the definition given on the Foster project portal: “Open Science is the practice of science in such a way that others can collaborate and contribute, where research data, lab notes and other research processes are freely available, under terms that enable reuse, redistribution and reproduction of the research and its underlying data and methods” [1].

2.2     Open Methodology

The research methodology behind OpenClick project and each subproject is publicly available on the project portal. All researchers can use the same methodologies without compensation provided that the data source is attributed.

2.3     Open Data

All data generated by the OpenClick project belongs to the Open Data class. It means that they are freely available to everyone to use, reuse and redistributed, provided that the data source is attributed [1].

2.4     Open Source

All programs generated by the OpenClick project can be freely used with respect to the open source license rules

2.5     Open Access

All research results and reports of the OpenClick project, as well as its subprojects, should be published and publicly available through the Web with free of charge access.

All scientific research results and associated content of the OpenClick project, as well as its subprojects, should be published in peer reviewed open access journal with free of charge access and with limited copyright and licensing restrictions.

2.6     Personal data protection

All personal data are anonymized.

3       OpenClick framework

OpenClick project allows creation and implementation of the projects that use the common OpenClick infrastructure, and therefore OpenClick can be considered as anopen framework.

3.1     Participants

OpenClick recognize following type of participants.

3.1.1     Person

It is any person from society at large. Each person who registers gets access to tools to test interaction with a computer using project’s portal. After each test, a person can see the results of its own test and compare those results with the results of other users.

A person can perform several tests over time. In addition to the results, for each test the time when the test is completed is also saved.

3.1.2     Patient

The patient is a person registered by her doctor. The difference between the person and the patient from the aspect of the collected data is that the patient has a defined diagnosis.

The patient can be described more closely with up to five descriptors. The doctor defines the permitted values for each descriptor. For each individual patient, at the time of registration, the doctor enters the descriptor values.

3.1.3     Researcher

The researcher is a person who participates in the realization of a project OpenClick or one of his projects. One researcher can run multiple projects.

Each project has its own ID, name, authors, goals, methodology and results. All these data must be published on the OpenClick portal.

3.2     Roles

A physical person can take several different roles, but at some point in time, only one. OpenClick recognize following type of roles.

3.2.1     Project coordinator

Project coordinator coordinates all OpenClick activities.

3.2.2     Portal administrator

The portal administrator manages all activities related to the OpenClick portal, including, but not limited to, design and implementation of portal, user management, project management, content management, security, maintenance, backup and data recovery.

3.2.3     Database administrator

The database administrator manages all activities related to the OpenClickdatabase, including, but not limited to, installation of DBMS, database design and implementation, export and import of data, access control, security, maintenance, backup and data recovery.

3.2.4     Project leader

Project leader is researcher who initiates, creates and implements a project using OpenClick infrastructure. He is responsible for applied methodology and project results.

3.2.5     Testee

Testee (synonyms examinee, test-taker) is person who is tested.

3.3     Registration

Participants of OpenClick project have to be registered as a person.

If a person wants to be registered as a researcher, he or she sends the request to the project coordinator. The request contains basic information about the project.

Researchers who intend to do tests with patients get the right to register patients on their project. In addition, they are entitled to enter the initial diagnosis of the patient and to define up to five descriptors that describe the patient more closely. The meaning of the descriptor and its possible value are described on the project's webpage.

3.4     Projects

As a megaproject OpenClick allows researchers to create particular project. Every project has its own webpage on OpenClick portal where project is described in detail.

For every project following data should be defined:

  • Project ID
  • Project title
  • Project leader
  • Project objectives
  • Project methodology
  • Diagnosis (if appropriate)
  • Descriptors (if appropriate)

In order to get a permit to lunch the project, the researcher must send requests by email to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.
